Identify your business today
for builders, electricians, plumbers and heating engineers, roofers · 23 October 2026
Somebody's boiler is out, they ask an assistant who to call, and it answers with a name. It picks the one whose page says the call-out charge and says it can come today. Yours doesn't say it. Your parents' generation had this morning once, and the firms that waited spent four years in the back of a local paper.
In the building trades your suppliers moved first, and one of them has already written the instructions. On 22 October 2026 we found a support article published by a restoration-software vendor titled, in its own words, "Use the Verisk XactRestore connector in Claude." Not a blog post about the future. A how-to, on the vendor's own help site, for software roofers and restoration firms already pay for.
And another one publishes exactly what it will and will not let an assistant do, which is the most honest thing in this whole study. A job-management system small contractors run lists nine permissions: six read, three write — and the writes are on clients, quotes and requests only. Not jobs. Not invoices. Not visits. So anybody telling you an assistant will book your jobs is wrong, and the vendor's own page says so. Of twelve trades, the building trades are the deepest in the inventory: ten systems a lesson can be taught against, more than any other.
Which means nothing technical is in your way, and the gap is sentences. Your call-out charge. Your hourly rate. Whether you do emergencies, and until what time. How far you travel. Whether you're taking work in November. You say all of that on the phone forty times a week and none of it is written where a machine can read it. When an assistant named a business in our own measurement, the reason it gave was a sentence on that business's own page.
Today, while your own suppliers are still the only ones talking. Gala for your business is where a customer's assistant can read them. Bring one topic's worth about each of twelve things a customer needs before they let you in the house — Findability, Qualifiability, Bookability, Predictability, Visibility, Automability, Memory, Continuity, Reachability, Countability, Answerability, Learnability — and you qualify. Then you answer the ninety questions yourself.
Measured 22 October 2026: the vendor article off its own support host, and the nine permissions off the job-management vendor's own authorisation server, with a nonsense path on the same host returning 404.
